Union Woodshop

Union Woodshop on Facebook

There is no question about it that the Woodshop is the best place in Metro Detroit for BBQ. They smoke everything and the food is just amazing. From the ribs to the pulled pork and to the brisket, the Union Woodshop does BBQ right. In addition, their burnt ends appetizer is one of a kind. Meaty and saucy, all in one. The desserts are also off the charts, and they offer great pizzas and excellent service. The co-owners, Curt Catallo and Erich Lines, are always around to make sure that the patrons are taken care of. Kid Rock is a regular there as well.

A fairly new BBQ joint has opened in downtown Royal Oak and they offer some very solid menu selections. Their burnt ends appetizer is cubed and delicious. The ribs are very good and the meat stays on the bone and is excellent. They have some different sides, including hush puppies, and they offer a very hip new bar. I also like their carry-out, with parking on the side, which is convenient.

Located in Greektown, this place has attractive decor. Opened by Michael and Tasso Teftsis in 2010, it was formerly the home of Monroe Grocery, closed in the early 2000′s. Enjoy standard barbecue fare including brisket, ribs and sides, but you shouldn’t miss the Redsmoke Chili with chunks of pulled pork and optional sour cream and cheese on top.
